outfitSkyler was sitting on a bench at the park, having nothing to do. Her Sidekick was in her pocket, but that wasn't something she could use very much now. Everyone seemed to be busy today, or at least the people she had tried to contact. So, to possibly save herself from boredom, Sky brought herself to the park. It didn't work though.
Her head snapped up when she heard a girl yell. Her eyes darted towards the girl, seeing a camera in her hand. She wasn't that far away, and she seemed to be having trouble. She hated when that happened. You wanted to take a picture of something, but you just didn't know how so it looked good. Examining the scene a bit more, she saw kids standing around. Skyler knew what that was all about. They wanted to ruin her pictures. She hated when people did that. They had nothing better to do but mess with you and make you mad. Of course, with her it was much more than mad. She had a temper.
The girl yelled at them again, and they ran off, apparently scared. That wouldn't have scared Sky if she was a kid, but then again, not all kids were like her. Sighing, Sky looked at the ground in front of her. Why couldn't she be having fun? Being bored was terrible for her. She checked her Sidekick once more, finding still no texts or missed calls. It seemed no one wanted to hang out with her that much. Well, maybe someone in the park would spend time with her.

Leighton sighed deeply as she walked, her heels clicking on the pavement as she flipped through the book in her hands that was thick and had a black book sock over it. Faintly, though, if anyone bothered to look closely, it was an english translating book. Damn the French and English language!
Her dark locks seemed hidden underneath her tiny black hat, her soft lighter brown eyes standing out against her pearly skin complexion and the very light mascara she had applied earlier. Her soft lips seemed to softly mouth the words as she tried her hardest to memorize them. Like sir and ma'am. People thought she was weird whenever she said it in french. She bit her lower lip, suddenly glancing up when she heard screams from someone. But Leighton's mind seemed to get sidetracked when her phone started vibrating. She quickly pulled it out, ignoring the text from her mother. Why would she want to talk to her now that Leighton was miles and miles away from New York City?
Leighton scrunched up her nose suddenly at one of the words. Though she had grown up in New York City with a priveledged life and all, French had always been her first language and she had always struggled with English. Though she went to school and everything, the majority of her life she was homeschooled up until highschool when she actually started attending schools regularly. She still wasn't used to it, but she figured it was one more year and she would survive.
She glanced around before her eyes landed on someone who was sitting by herself. She didn't seem like the kind of person to mug her, so Leighton walked over to her, her heels becoming muted with the grass.
"Excusez-moi manquer," (excuse me miss)Leighton's thick french accent slipped through her velvet voice," But do you know how to pronounce this word?" Leighton showed her the book and pointed down to the word. She was not sure if it was f-ur-rap-oo-chee-no or if it was f-ur-rap-oh-keen-oh. Leighton felt her cheeks turn a light shade of pink as she glanced up at the girl's eyes. Her eyes were gorgeous. Leighton wouldn't lie.

outfitSkyler had moved here in hopes of ditching her old lifestyle but still having fun. She almost fully ditched it, but she’d also ditched fun. If her old lifestyle still controlled her life, she’d be out drinking and doing drugs. Now she didn’t do those things in excess, if at all. The only thing she still did was sleep around, but the amount she did decreased by a good amount, and she rarely did so. Hooking up with people at parties wasn’t that bad, so it basically took the place. Even still, there wasn’t much fun for Skyler Huntington. You had to give it time though, right? A year wasn’t that much time. After all, she’d been a hermit for a bit in the beginning. She didn’t really want to be new, and talking to the people was a bit hard, because they’d ask about her life before this. She wasn’t that much into speaking of the facility and all that.
Keeping her eyes towards the side the screaming girl was, Sky heard footsteps. Well, heels. The sound nearly ceased, and she figured they were heading towards her. The brunette hoped they weren’t, because, with her luck, they’d be someone really annoying. But her assumption seemed to be wrong. They first spoke in another language, and Skyler decided anyone that spoke another language fluently was cool in her book. Turning towards the girl, Sky gave her a friendly smile. So she really did speak the language if she needed help with English. “Oh, yeah. It’s f-ur-rap-oo-chee-no,” she told the other girl nicely, not wanting to come off as rude. As much as the girl seemed like someone she wouldn’t associate with, Sky wanted to be her friend. The girl was nice so far, and definitely pretty. It never hurt to have a pretty friend.
“Oh, my name’s Skyler, by the way.” She took the initiative, because she wanted a friend. Sure, she had some, but she liked to have a lot. Sky was a people person, so friends were great. “Anything else you need help with?” Today was the day for helping. Her mood was good, so putting it to good use was an idea. Usually people annoyed Skyler and she wanted nothing to do with them. This was a different case though. There hadn’t been any insults exchanged, and that was a first. Anyone who didn’t insult her deserved to be a friend. That’s what Sky figured anyway.

"Merci!" Leighton smiled brightly as she thanked her, forgetting that she was speaking french half the time,"I am Leighton. It is a pleasure to meet you, Skylar," This was the real Leighton. The one that was polite, a social buttefly, sweet and innocent...
Not the girl back in New York City who had become the biggest biznotch on the face of the planet due to her mother's constant criticism and having to stay number one at everything. Here, she was glad she got a breather. She needed it. The pressure had become so much back home that she had tried to take the easiest way out of it possible-suicide. Thankfully, she failed. For once she was grateful for a failure and wasn't beating herself up over it.
"I'm looking for a Starbucks, actually," she asked Skylar as she closed her book lightly,"For a..." she bit her lower lip before she tested out the word,"foo-rap-oo-chee-no."
The pink retuned to her cheeks. It sounded okay...But being Leighton-she was a bit of an over achiever. t had been slammed into her head since she was younger that being perfect at everything was what won over your parents' love and affection. But Leighton managed to only receive her father's side-partially-while her mother was, as always, playing the ice queen of the castle.
"Would you like to come? It's on me," she was trying, and failing, to keep the accent out so her words would be more understandable. It frustrated her sometimes, when people would make ehr repeat things over and over again. Thankfully, she did not need to speak when doing or obtaining drugs and alcohol and at parties-dancing kept people's mouths shut.

outfitSky knew enough about the French language to know that ‘merci’ meant thank you. “No problem,” she replied, smiling warmly. Still no insults. This had to be a record of some sort. It always seemed that Skyler was either giving or receiving insults within five minutes of meeting someone like this girl. The girl was different because Sky’s usual friends didn’t dress like this. This girl dressed more like the people who didn’t like Sky at all. A change was nice though. Change was needed every once in a while.
The girl introduced herself, and Sky smiled in response. Leighton was a pretty name. “It’s a pleasure to meet you as well.” Her smile appeared briefly once again, and it was obvious that there would be no fighting. Leighton was a nice girl, and Sky was in a good mood today. Being in a good mood almost guaranteed that new friends would come into the picture. Not that friends didn’t turn into more or turn into less. Some friends turned into enemies. Those were dropped quickly and ignored. The ones that became more were kept around, whether they were a boy or a girl, or if they were a friend with benefits or more. Their conversation continued, and Sky listened as she spoke with an accent. The girl smiled amusedly at her new friend, not to be rude, but because she found it a bit cute that she was unsure about the new word.
“I know where a Starbucks is around here,” Skyler told her. She’d show it to her if she wanted. The topic of her joining Leighton soon came up, and she figured she’d go. “Sure, I’ll come. I have nothing better to do.” It wasn’t spoken in a rude matter, because she was being serious. She had nothing better to do, and it sounded fun. It was nice to get to know new people.

Leighton knew that all she had to do was keep her last name out as much as possible and she would be fine. Usually when people knew her full name, they would realize where they had heard of her from and then she would become completely unsure if they wanted to be friends with her for her or because of her status. And though Leighton was pretty well known-she was surprisingly oblivious to her own fame. She had to be or it would all get to her head and she'd become a pompous, spoiled brat like before.
Leighton had to keep the real her shining as much as possible or risk losing herself like last time. She didn't want to go back to what she called the 'dark ages'.
"Yay!" Leighton actually seemed excited as her tiny clap was muted by the book,"Lead the way, manquer," she chuckled, not knowing where the Starbucks was. She was still pretty new, only being here a few weeks at most. Leighton wasn't counting-or she'd start wishing she was back in New York City when she was so obviously better off here than anywhere else-as sad as it sounded.
Though Leighton was still upset about what happened, she never tried to let it bring her down. So what if her mother thougt she wasn't good enough? So what if her father decided to dump her on her mother just because she was too much of a hassle? Leigh Leigh paid no mind to it. It would only turn her as pessimistic as she used to be. Plus-drugs helped in that department, even though she was trying to quit smoking-which she was actually doing pretty well with since she hadn't been so stressed out lately.

outfitSky started to wonder about Leighton. She wondered where she’d lived before, and if her family was any better than Skyler’s. They probably were, because Sky’s family was terrible. She hated them a lot, and hoped they’d never try to contact her again. Her mother never cared anyway, so why start now? Even from a little kid, Sky had been ignored and yelled at and even hit. Her little sister got the same treatment basically. Sky was done with all that though. Here, she was going to start fresh and be a good kid. Well, as good as she could be. She still liked to party and hook up with people. That made her think too. Was Leighton into girls? It didn’t seem like many girls liked girls, but Skyler did. She didn’t want to know because she wanted something, but more because she was just curious. Sky liked to know those kinds of things.
“Okay,” Skyler giggled a little at Leighton’s excitement, standing up and walking slowly in the direction of the nearest Starbucks. She didn’t want to just walk off and make the other girl run to catch up. That wasn’t very fair, and it was also rude. A bad impression wasn’t needed. Her hands found their way into the pocket of her jacket, the one forming around the Sidekick. Sky got cold pretty easily, so she usually wore jackets. After all, Skyler was a relatively small girl, so it made sense. She was only five foot three. She was glad the other girl wasn’t too much taller, because then she’d feel really short, and that was a terrible feeling. It wasn’t that bad when it was in comparison to a guy, because they were usually taller, but girls were all usually around the same average height. But Skyler wasn’t really average.

Leighton easily kept up with Skylar, her heels resuming their clicking sound against the sidewalk as background noise. She figured the starbucks wasn't far. If it was she would have gotten her Land Rover and driven there since walking in heels everywhere wasn't always the best thing in the world.
"Do you go to the school here?" she asked her, easily being able to strike up a conversation and hopefully keep it flowing. She glanced over at her, accidentally locking her soft chocolate orbs onto her crystal azure ones. This Skylar girl really was beautiful. Leighton made a mental note to tell her later, when they became closer friends-hopefully if they did. She couldn't tell her now...it might come off as a bit weird on her half and Leighton was trying to cut back on ruining her own reputation.
She figured she must go to the school-But if she did then Leighton was sure that she would have seen her. Scratch that. Total lie. Leighton was oblivious to everything in the school. She usually kept to herself, even though she was really well known. She was suppose to be in the elites, apprently, because of her background and stuff, but she didn't have the personality to handle being elite-again. She had been number one Queen Bee in her old school. She would shun people who dressed the same way Skylar had-outside the school. She used to walk with her nose in the air and be a complete snob...But that was the only way her mother would listen to her-if she was number one and did not let people push her around. But that wasn't the real Leighton who was sweet yet determined...
