Personality:
Xanadu is a rather complex girl, to say the least. Even her friends that have known her since she was in diapers don't yet know all of the ins and outs of her personality - it's safe to say that not even Xanadu knows them all. Even at the best of times, she can be confused by her own feelings and actions, which doesn't help her case in life at all. She doesn't show a lot of her emotions that concern things like that, though, far preferring to pretend that things are just a-okay in her life.
Xanadu is usually one of the most happy people on the planet. it takes a lot to get her down, but once she's angry, it's pretty safe to say that whoever got her mad won't ever be her friend. When she was younger, and people would say something to her face that she didn't like, she wouldn't hesitate to punch them right then and there. Even now, she's a bit rash when it comes to things like that, but she usually won't just haul out and get into a fist fight; she'll resort to using her words. She's extraordinarily over protective of her friends, for whom she'd do anything and everything. If one of them ever asked her to do something like jump off a bridge, she wouldn't hesitate to do it.
She can be a bit shy about some things, like singing without the music accompanying her, or talking to a boy she might like. Other things, she's totally outgoing and loud about - it's a rather weird trade-off. Some people say that she has split personalities, but she thinks that everyone is like that. People who have straight and narrow views on things bewilder and anger her. People against gay marriage and abortion make her want to hit them. She doesn't understand why they just can't be happy for two people in love, even if they are of the same sex. Abortion is the same way in her mind. People who have no idea what a woman is going through should have no say on whether or not she can have an abortion.
It's also no secret that Xanadu can have a bit of a problem with her temper, and her jealousy. If she sees someone messing around with one of her friends, or someone even just talking to her boyfriend, she can fly off the handle in a moment. It doesn't take long for her to jump to conclusions, either, which leads to a lot of misleading situations. When that happens, though, she's the first person to step in and say that she's sorry for her rash actions in the first place. Much like her friend, Charlie, Xanadu tends to be blunt honest, and not in a good way either. Whatever she thinks about something comes right out of her mouth as soon as she's asked her opinion. It's a bit like she has Tourette's. Relating to that, anyone who knows her, knows her rather pervvy personality. But that's all we'll say about that.
Unlike some of her friends and people she knows, Xanadu isn't really big on the whole club-and-drinking scene. She'd much rather hang out at home and do homework or study or talk on the phone or even watch a movie. The idea of going out and getting drunk just doesn't amuse her or make her happy in any way. Drugs are the same way. Why anyone would want to willingly go against the law to do something incredibly stupid and dangerous is beyond her - but only with drugs. Xanadu can't say that she's never done something illegal and stupid before. she's had her fair share of things that could have gotten her in trouble. Underage drinking (before she decided that she didn't like it), underage smoking, and a whole plethora of other things.
Xanadu can be described as a real romantic at heart. Big, expensive, flashy things don't please her, and she wouldn't be happy with receiving, nor giving anything like that. Going out on a date in a large, crowded restaurant doesn't exactly scream out 'I love you!' to her either. Her ideal date would be to stay at home, eating take-out on the couch and watching a crappy movie, and laughing about how stupid it is and how she can't use chopsticks. Anything that could actually let her get closer to the object of her affections. A movie theater isn't fun for her because you can't talk during it about what you don't like about the movie, or how romantic it is or stuff like that. Plus, she has an irritating habit of wanting to pause and rewind things a million times.
She can be a bit of a flirt at times with people who aren't her boyfriend, but her friends usually set her back on track before anything happens that might jeopardize her relationship. Plus, Max just doesn't seem to mind, as long as he's the only one she's kissing. Who cares about a bit of harmless flirting here and there? For the most part, though, Xanadu is a bright, happy, cheerful, dare-devil with a bit of a bad side to her. Not that much of a bad side, though, because she knows exactly where the line is, and where crossing it becomes too much. In short, she's a regular teenage girl.

Appearance:
Xanadu looks small and tiny, but be warned, she can easily kick your ass without a moment's hesitation. Standing at only five feet, two inches, it's easy to see why most people get the impression that she's a tiny doll to be admired, not to be touched. Her long blond hair and clear, sky-blue eyes only add to that image, but she's anything but. Her height has always been a source of great irritation to her, since her friends, including her best friend, Charlie Benette, have always been at least three inches taller than her. Even her brother, Napoleon, is taller than her, despite being her twin. Since she stands at only a measly two inches taller than five feet, her weight is also under what a normal woman's would be - she weighs at a sturdy one-oh-eight. While most people might think that she has an eating disorder, or that she's simply too skinny, Xanadu finds that her weight is just perfect. She eats all that she would like, and then some, prompting many exclamations from people that don't know her well, but she doesn't gain weight. Unlike Hector or Charlie, she doesn't do sports. In the weight respect, she's a lot more like Tara, who too does not partake of many sports and still weighs less than she should. While she might not have a six-pack, or any really defined muscles other than the ones in her upper arms, no one could say that she was out of shape.
Moving from the aspects that most people catch onto right away, Xanadu is considered a pretty girl. She has rather pale skin that's prone to burning if she's outside too long. Whenever the gang packs up to go to the beach, one can find her hiding under a large hat, with tons of sunscreen slathered on to protect herself from any burning. In the extreme heat, she has been known to wear a sweatshirt to the beach. Her eyes are, as previously mentioned, a clear sky-blue, resembling that of a baby's. They might look wide and innocent, but she certainly isn't. They can go from their default position of happy to stormy and cloudy in a second - this mostly happens when Max does something stupid. Xanadu has naturally brown hair, but she's dyed it blond since her eighth grade year. When she's just come out of the shower, it can be found softly curling around her shoulders in little waves, but she tackles it swiftly and easily with a straightener. While her hair usually falls around her shoulders, or near that length, it has been so long that it has reached down her back, and it has been so short that it has hardly touched the tips of her ears. Right now, it's cut shaggy, and falls just past her earlobes.
Xanadu is like any normal girl - she likes to shop for things (Much to Max's chagrin), and she likes to dress up. It's very rare that she'll actually get all dressed up and go some place, simply because she hates going out looking good, and then sitting down and not having anyone admire her. That's why, for the most part, she opts for casual, comfy clothes. Anything from American Eagle, Abercrombie&Fitch, Hollister, or Aeropostale is a friend of her closet's, and the shirts from each of those places make up the majority of her entire stock. Her jeans are carefully scouted for, in malls far and wide, for the perfect pairs. At the moment, she has twelve pairs, all fitted just to her, and worn so that they are comfortable and fall in just the right place when they are put on. When she isn't clad in any of the brand name store's clothes, she can be found in sweatpants and one of Max's old sweatshirts. A secret that's known only to her friends is that Xanadu likes to go out to thrift stores, and the Salvation Army, and buy old clothes cheap, then go home and make them entirely her own creation. A tank top here, a pair of shorts there, add a belt, and viola! A Xanadu Washington creation.
Xanadu has her ears pierced, twice for both ears; she has a tongue ring and is getting a lip ring; and she has a star tattooed on her ankle; all of which her parents don't know about.
History:[Lmao, stole part of this from Nip's application and changed some stuff.]
In the Washington Family, perfection is key. You must have perfect manners, a perfect school record, play an instrument perfectly and have an overall perfect reputation. High standards for most kids, but for Xanadu and her brother, who learned that, in order for them to do anything fun and even see the outside world, these were expectations that needed to be met. Xanadu was the louder, more outgoing twin from the moment the two of them had been born, so she didn't pay much attention to those types of things. She and her brother attended only the best schools in the area where she was always in the average area - smart, but uncaring about school. She practically had a heart attack from happiness when Napoleon attended the Royal Academy for Music when he was 14 and after a year was asked if he would like a part time job teaching there. She was forever saying things like 'Oh, my God, THANK GOD NAPOLEON'S NOT HERE TO SEE THIS!' when she and Charlie were doing something not so good.
The Washington family never seemed to have any problems. The parents were happily married, the kids did well, heck, even the dog was trained, but the pressure and perfection had a big effect on the kids. Napoleon handled his stress by becoming very withdrawn and working most of the time while his sister acted out, become more of a rebel than she normally did. She would stay out late, hang out with the wrong types of people, cut her hair, dye it, get piercings, everything her parents hated. They never seemed to get along either, Napoleon and Xanadu, but that was mostly because of Xanadu’s other way of handling stress, cussing out her brother. Because of this, the twins barely ever hung out or were around each other until they began dating Tara and Max, both of them had been childhood friends for years. Still, the relationship hasn’t seemed to change their relationship much, but it’s changed Napoleon greatly.
Xanadu has calmed down over the years, realizing that it doesn't matter what her parents think or what they want her to do, but rather what she thinks and what her friends think - instead of going for some medical or law degree like her parents want her to, she's going to go to an art school. Only her closest friends know that she's a rather good artist and plans on making a career out of it. She's totally in love with Max Montgomery, but she doesn't make a big display out of it. Charlie used to tease her about the 'big, tough, Xanadu falling for the pansy' but now, to the untrained eye, it's more like Xanadu has Max trained to do whatever she wants him to. The couple might act more like best friends in public than an actual couple, but that doesn't mean that he isn't the most important person to her.
Within the last year or so, Xanadu and her group of friends have become almost inseparable and do everything together. In their group, there are three different couples. Xanadu, the tough-skinned beauty, and Max, the dorky class clown. Hector, the handsome jock, and Charlie, the overachieving perfectionist. And finally, Napoleon, the nerdy nerd, and Tara, the shy sweetheart. She's been best friends with Charlie since kindergarten, when they first met, and they've been the best of friends. They're always getting into trouble at school, but not very much trouble because Charlie wouldn't want to have her perfect record tarnished, whereas Xanadu has a ton of detentions on her list. Tara's the one that she leans on for the most support, and the one who she always knows can listen to her and give her an honest opinion. Max is her knight in shining aluminum foil. Hector is her friend who will stand up for her if anything happened, because he's so devoted to her best friend. Napoleon's her brother, but she wouldn't mind if he got shipped to Alaska and didn't come back. Shanice is her friend who can help her during her loud, outgoing moments where she wants to cause trouble and pick a fight.
Together they form a group of uncategorized mis-fits who all seem to fall together through different relationships. Charlie and Xanadu have been friends since Charlie moved into town and haven’t ever fought or parted. Charlie, being over so much and so casually, considered Napoleon a brother, despite his small childhood crush on her that crashed and burned long ago. Then Charlie met Max, the class clown, in drama and Charlie introduced her to Xanadu and Napoleon. Soon Xanadu and Max were dating and Max introduced his friend, Tara into the group who seemed to instantly gravitate toward Napoleon and vice-versa. Tara then brought Shanice in, the drama queen but a piece to the puzzle non the least. For a while they remained like this, happy and collected, but Charlie always was alone, until she met Hector. In Xanadu's opinion, Hector is Charlie's other half, and although Napoleon doesn't like Hector all that much, she knows that he'll keep his trap shut if he doesn't want her to lock him the closet with her pet snake again.
Eventually, Xanadu got another couple introduced into the group, her friends that she knew just from hanging around: Serenity and Chloe, the school lesbians (They're affectionately dubbed that now). While they might seem more like Xanadu's friends, everyone in her group likes them anyway.
